The "apropiado" in quotes must refer to how the word was used just before this; it seems to explain the meaning. Doesn't seem to fit in with animal husbandry, but I suppose it's large-scale.

agree  Richard Boulter: This is the most concise rendition. HOD is surely 'head of department' and PTO is likely as 'personnel time off'. Chriswa's wording also captures this interpretation and is very natural to the English ear ...eye ... :)
