This appears on a ladder safety checklist. A hinge is a bisagra, I know. But a hinge spreader??

It is in reference both to stepladders and trestle ladders. "Loose or bent hinge spreaders." No other context.

Bisagras extensibles


Explanation:
Es la parte de la escalera que al abrirse, la bisagra se extiende y no permite que la escalera se abra más allá de cierto limite. Es lógico que si esta bisagra extensible o extendible se dobla o rompe, representa un peligro para el usuario.
