Gosh, the amount of times this term comes up! And it doesn't help that montacargas, which is the common term I believe in LatAm, is a kind of elevator/lift (up and down between floors, to make this quite clear!) in Spain.

Explanation:
Aunque se que en el norte de México a pallets se les llama "paletas", también me asegura un transportista mexicano que esto es una acepción falsa y que el verdadero nombre es "palé", en el mundo hispano algunos les llaman "bandejas de carga". Por tanto, yo opto por lo correcto y confirmado por la RAE.

disagree  hugocar: Si se tratara de un texto literario, estaría de acuerdo con la RAE y contigo. Pero tratándose del uso de un montacargas, me inclino por la expresión más utilizada: paleta.

  -> Estamos de acuerdo en el desacuerdo, Hugo. Para mi no deja de ser un anglicismo adoptado de la influencia del inglés norteño, de los que hay muchos en ese hemisfrio, como carpet=carpeta, pins=pines, etc etc. Yo prefiero no mezclar cuando no es necesario.

Cuando de chico trabajaba en una fábrica-almacén de quesos para sacarme unas perrillas, todo el mundo lo llamaba transpalé. Es lógico, los demás términos propuestos son demasiado largos para que los diga alguien que está trabajando :) Saludos.
