Se me ocurre esto. Casing is "chaqueta" y liner es "camisa interior". Parece que vamos a un sastre a pedir un terno, solo nos faltan las medias : - )

Explanation:
En muchos motores se usan "camisas" de cilindro *liners*, cuya parte exterior está en contacto con el agua del sistema de enfriamiento. La camisa se instala en el bloque de cilindros*cylinder casing* de modo que cuando la parte inferior alcanza el "asiento", el reborde superior queda a ras con la superficie del bloque. Se usan anillos de sello para impedir fugas de agua, pero si la zona de contacto está erosionada pierden efectividad.
