Creo que el caso del "sargento" se adaptaría más a una herramienta tipo "clamp" en inglés.

Explanation:
En España al menos, todo utensilio para sujetar provisonalmente algo mientras trabajamos con ello para sujetarlo definitivamente (pegando con adhesivo, soldando, clavando, atornillando,...), se suele denominar "sargento".

Aunque habitualmente en ingles, se suelen denominar "clamp" (*).

Estos 'boomerangles', "ángulos magnéticos" o "pinzas mágnéticas en ángulo/escuadra", no sé si los podríamos englobar también en la categoria de "sargentos", 'sargentos magnéticos'.

(*) (nota: en el link a Wikipedia, ir luego a la primera de las entradas que se ven en la página: "Clamp (tool)"; ya que el link directo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clamp_(tool) me ha dado problemas debido a los paréntesis.)
