The number of unbending units for each strand depends on the diameter of the bars. When casting small sizes like 148 and 170 mm, two units per strand can be used but when casting larger diameters liker 215 – 254 – 290 mm three units per strand are advisable to avoid unbending cracks.

Explanation:
Las tiradas de barras que salen del horno se enfrían y se guardan.
Las tiradas más finas no se agrietan si se doblan cuando las guardan.
Las barras más gruesas deben ser divididas en dos o en tres para evitar que al doblarse se agrieten.
Al doblar una barra gruesa, uno de los lados se comprime mucho y el otro se alarga produciéndose tensiones localizadas de tracción en el lado que se alarga con la aparición de grietas.
Las tensiones laterales en una barra de pequeño diámetro son de poca entidad y no hay agrietado.
