En principio parecería referirse al fin de carrera, ¿no?, pero un rápido viaje al mundo de los diccionarios en Google Books dilucida el entuerto:

• allowable runout = desviación permisible ( http://books.google.com.ar/books?id=ZIU4-UjfzYcC&pg=PA46&dq=... )

• axial runout = desviación axial ( http://books.google.com.ar/books?id=ZIU4-UjfzYcC&pg=PA105&dq... )

• runout = descarga, alcance | desviación ( http://books.google.com.ar/books?id=ymGOeyga09AC&pg=PA433&dq... )

Por otra parte, Wikipedia al rescate con esta frase que sustenta el uso de "desviación":

• In addition, the stem must be very straight, or have low run out, in order to ensure good valve closure. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Globe_valve )

O sea que "low run out" es lo mismo que "very straight".
