English to Spanish translations [PRO] Medical - Medical: Dentistry | | English term or phrase: peg tooth | Microdontia is the term used to describe teeth which are smaller than normal (outside the usual limits of variation). The extent of the microdontia varies, and can involve all of the teeth or just one or a few teeth.
Microdontia involving a single tooth is very common, with the most common one being the upper lateral incisor. This is sometimes referred to as a “peg tooth” or a “peg lateral”. The roots of this tooth tend to be shorter than normal also.
Small teeth can be built back up to a more functional and visually more desirable size and shape. A variety of techniques such as bonding and crowns can achieve this. |
