I liked your answer, Henry and I will acknowledge it but I think the Mother Baby unit is basically a term for the Maternity Ward.

mother/baby unit
unidad posparto

Explanation:
It seems to be a postpartum unit with rooming-in (where the baby stays with the mother, not in a separate nursery).

My suggested answer isn't complete because it doesn't convey the rooming-in aspect.

On the other hand, some mother/baby units provide pre-natal to post-natal care: http://www.sjo.org/MainServicesSub.aspx?pageId=166

mother/baby unit
Unidad Materno Infantil

Explanation:
This is what the name tells me. If it is ginecoobstetricia/partos, etc. then I would have to know that CONTEXT.

My confidence in the answer is total as far as words go, but all I can go on are words; anything else is guessing without CONTEXT.
