English term or phrase: merchantability or illness

Limited Warranty and Disclaimer: XXX products are sold with a limited warranty to the original purchaser against defects in workmanship and materials. Any other express or implied warranties, including warranties of **merchantability or illness**, are hereby disclaimed.

This is a package insert for and orthopedic device. I need help with the term "illness" here.
There is a previous translation in the TM I'm using, but the terms are "merchantability or fitness", which makes much more sense to me! Can anyone explain the meaning of "illness" here? THANKS!
