This trial will look at the effectiveness and safety of certain treatments for bipolar 1 disorder and will be checking your quality of life with these different medicines.

I don´t like "observar". Any suggestions?

Yo cambiaría la construcción, aunque también podés decir "evaluará" o "servirá para evaluar"...

Creo que hay dos opciones posibles: "centrarse" y "prestar atención". Me parece que ambas están bien. Creo que cualquier expresión o palabra relacionada con el énfasis y el intéres que se pone en algo estará bien puesto que ese es el espíritu de la frase.
