Así también se dice en Neurología y Cardiología.

El texto original tuyo debería decir "voltage-gated ion channels".

"Gate" sería 'puerta' (como en los aeropuertos), o bien 'válvula', y 'gated' es el verbo correspondiente, q' en español muchas veces se omite.

Mr. Martínez is basically right. After all, there's no big difference between "controlados" and "gobernados" as Eurodic suggest [see below]. But Ms. Esgarbosa is right. It should be "voltage-gated", and not "voltage-guted"...
