La Coroides

La **lámina supracoroidea** es un área de delicado tejido conjuntivo que forma un espacio potencial inmediatamente por debajo de la esclerótica. Los vasos y nervios ciliares largos están situados en este espacio, que es donde se reúnen los derrames coroideos y donde tienen lugar el drenaje uvoescleral del humor acuoso. La coroides posee un extenso lecho vascular: los vasos mayores son los más externos, las arterias son cortas y de gran calibre, y dan lugar a una red de capilares fenestrados, los coriocapilares, que se sitúa directamente debajo de la membrana de Bruch y que proporciona la vasculatura de la retina externa a través del epitelio pigmentario de la retina. El tejido del estroma contiene melanocitos, fibras de colágeno y linfocitos.
