"Medical investigators have found that the breathing gas called nitric oxide causes..."

I'm not sure that the correct translation in the field would be: gas respiratorio o gas inhalatorio..., or perhaps something like "gas administrado por via inhalatoria"?...

Si. Los barbitúricos, los narcóticos (opioides) y los tranquilizantes, así como el gas inhalado óxido nitroso, son seguros para las personas susceptibles a la hipertermia maligna. También los anestésicos locales (tipo amida y tipo éster).

El óxido nitroso está indicado para el mantenimiento de la anestesia. Es demasiado débil para ser usado solo, pero permite reducir la dosis de otros agentes anestésicos. Tiene un efecto analgésico fuerte.
