Diccionarios, glosarios, Internet...son indispensables, pero por obvio que parezca uno debe saber qué busca, y para ello hay que investigar, estudiar. Cuando no se cuenta con experiencia en el tema, hay que comenzar leyendo sobre el tema en uno de los 2 idiomas del par lingüístico. Un poco más enterado, comienzas a buscar palabras sueltas de tu oración fuente y relacionadas con lo que leíste: qué es látex, usos, cómo son las máquinas ecográficas, qué partes tienen. Pero en este caso en particular, tu búsqueda fracasó porque partiste de un concepto erróneo: "probes" no son pruebas, sino sondas y de haber tenido eso claro, con conocimiento del tema o sin él, habrías ido a parar bastante cerca del punto central: a las sondas hay que colocarles protección (como lo hace un preservativo) para evitar contagios. Cada paciente insume una funda, puesto que ésta se desecha y se coloca una nueva con el siguiente paciente.

... Internet is the best. Technical words/concepts change continuously and standard dictionaries can't keep up to date.

You need to search, for example in Google, entering the key words... Try to understand first the concept in English and then figure out which the Spanish translation might be. Photographs might help (mostly when technical terms are involved).

Besides, it is very helpful to have some basic glossaries/technical dictionaries to be used on line. There are a lot on the Web.

How to parse the relation between/among the 4 words: Latex, Ultrasound, Probe, Covers. And a little technical knowledge - rubber (Latex) has nothing to do functionally with ultrasound - so it must be the cover (to prevent infection from patient to patient).

Thanks for your help, it was very helpful. But I'd like to know how do you find the answer. I mean how do you start the search. For example first of all, I found out the word, dictionaries, but I found nothing maybe I did the research in the bad way, Perhaps you can tell me the way you find out when the topic is about technique translation.
