English term or phrase: pre-addendum
Estoy traduciendo un estudio clínico titulado "Influence of Renal Failure on Myelosuppressive Effects of Melphalan: Cancer and Leukemia Group B Experience".

En medio del texto, empiezan a hablar de pre-addendum y post-addendum, así como pre-addendum period y post-addendum period y no estoy segura de cómo traducirlos. La primera vez que aparece el término es en:

"i.v. Melphalan Schedule

At the time of an interim analysis for the first 77 evaluable patients treated with the i.v. melphalan schedule (**pre-addendum**), high frequencies of severe leukopenia (≤ 1000 cells/mm3) (22%), drug-related deaths (10%), and severe thrombocytopenia (≤ 25,000 cells/mm3) (10%) were found, which were quite similar to those observed in the previous 1971 protocol. Patients with BUN ≥ 30 mg/100 ml during the initial 10 weeks of treatment (the period of most intensive treatment) had a significantly higher frequency of severe leukopenia (50%) than did patients with normal renal function (15%) (P = 0.007) (Table 3). "

...

"An additional 118 patients received i.v. melphalan following the decrease in dose for patients with renal failure (post-addendum). The frequency of severe leukopenia in patients with BUN 30 mg/100 ml was 11%, a significant reduction from the **pre-addendum** level of toxicity (P = 0.01). This value was not significantly different from that observed in patients with normal renal function who received i.v. melphalan (table 3). The frequency of severe thrombocytopenia was not significantly altered by the addendum (table 5); consequently, the records of all patients who developed severe myelotoxicity following i.v. or oral melphalan were re-evaluated to identify any possible deviations from dose adjustments that were mandated by the protocol in the **pre-addendum** and post-addendum periods. "

Para contexto, la tabla 5 se titula: Effect of renal failure on frequency of severe thrombocytopenia (≤ 25.000/mm3) during initial 10 weeks of treatment

En el resumen hablan de dos períodos de tiempo que supongo que de alguna forma definen el pre-addendum y post-addendum sin mencionarlos:

"I.v. melphalan was first used to treat myeloma in 1971. Patients received the first six courses of i.v. melphalan (16 mg/ m2) at intervals of 2 weeks. An initial 10-week tapering course of prednisone was also given. Subsequent doses of melphalan were given at 4-week intervals followed by a 7-day course of prednisone. In 47 patients treated with this regimen, 35% developed severe leukopenia (≤ 1000 cells/mm3), 30% had life-threatening infection, and 13% died of infection related to leukopenia (1). Since the patients receiving i.v. melphalan appeared to survive longer than those receiving oral melphalan (median survival: 36 vs 16 months, respectively; P = 0.16) (2), a subsequent CALGB protocol, activated in July 1974, was modified to allow further comparison of oral and i.v. melphalan in untreated myeloma patients. In view of previously noted toxicity, the initial i.v. melphalan therapy was reduced from six to four doses at 2-week intervals prior to monthly treatment courses. The results of this melphalan schedule and the frequency of severe leukopenia, death related to infection, and severe thrombocytopenia are reported."

¿"pre-addendum" se traducirá como "antes de la ampliación/ extensión" del estudio?
