The well established smelters in the market today are running a feed blend of approximately 31% copper. At present there is a trend observed in the market whereby the average copper grade in concentrate being produced around the world is falling. Therefore smelters are constantly seeking productions of higher grade copper in concentrate (40% Cu) for blending purposes by offering better TC/RC’s for higher grade concentrates to entice producers. This “premium” will not be available for Toromocho as the copper concentrate grade is on the low end of the scale at 26.5% Cu.
