sé lo que significa la expresión pero me pregunto si se dice de alguna manera específica en el ámbito musical.
¿Podría ser sacarse las castañas del fuego?

Explanation:
Una opción (viene del ámbito deportivo, pero creo que se puede extrapolar a cualquier otro). "Pay one's dues" tengo entendido que significa haber pasado por momentos duros, habérselo currado para llegar a un puesto o lograr el éxito... :-D
