tener prueba del estatus de residencia legal (US)

Explanation:
Hola,

Para los US puedes usarlo. Suena raro pero es lo que usan en el INS e los US.

Suerte,

poder comprobar calidad migratoria legal

Explanation:
I've done a lot of work for the Mexican Immigration Authorities and that's the term they use here for all foreigners (In the U.S., they use the term "aliens"---which has always sounded funny to me----"Yeah, I'm a Martian and here's my green card!!"))

In Mexico, "legal alien status" = "calidad migratoria"---and they don't need to use the word "alien" nor "foreigner" as this is perfectly understood. "poder comprobar" = "be able to prove, or show you have".

Well, that's my 2 cent's worth and I hope it helps:-)))

dar evidencia de su estatus legal de extranjero

Explanation:
I know I have agreed and disagreed with many people on this question... but I wanted to post my own alternative. As I've said while disagreeing with some people, I'm going through this situation and I have to show all evidences I have while I'm still in Brazil. So, what I'll have to do is go to the American Embassy and Consulate in Brazil and show them that I'm legally married to an American citizen. I'll have to take all my documents with me for my K3 visa (the one for spouses and children) to be approved.

Good luck.
