Es una expresión típicamente argentina, que significa que hoy trabaja aquí y mañana allá, puede ser dentro del país o puede migrar a otro país. El concepto vale igual. Creo que no hace explicar la etimología de la palabra: la golondrina está medio año en Argentina y medio año en Estados Unidos.

We in Russia use a German word "Gastarbeiter" without translation. The father of my Spanish tutor was "Gastarbeiter" in Germany during Franko period, so he used this word. Is it comprehensible for Spanish-speaking world?

I know, that in Germany the 3rd largest group of \"Gastarbeiter\" were Spaniards (persons from Turkey & the territory of the former Yugoslavia were the 1st two). Is \"Gastarbeiter\" applicable in Spain, at least?

There are some seasonal migrant agricultural workers on the South of the USA, who are usually from Mexico & Central America. I believe, they are called \"chicanos\".
