No sé en Colombia, pero en España el termino equivalente al uso es "tener la exclusiva" inspirado en los medios de comunicación en referencia de las noticias que tiene un sólo medio. entiendo que la expresión en ingles "have the corner on smthg" hace referencia literal a "ser el dueño de una esquina de una calle" en la cual se vende (u otras cosas que se hacen en las esquinas de las calles)
