creo que naive no se puede separar de overbearing. así me parece que habría que decir algo así como que

"bush es el americano simplista y autoritario por excelencia"

o

"encarna al típico americano simplista y autoritario"

no creo que ninguna de las cualidades, a pesar del hecho del "but", se pretenda transmitir de modo positivo, de ahí que cambiaría el "but" por un "y", cogiendo alguna de las acepciones menos favorables o generosas del término naive.

lo siento si me he excedido, pero no puedo resistir la oportunidad de dedicarle unos poquitos adjetivos a mi amigo...
