English term or phrase: parent
parent = padre y madre (padres)

If I have a text that says:
the parent/tutor
would you translate it,
Los padres/tutores ??
Los padres/tutor ??

I don't thing is:
El padre/tutor
because it doesn't say
the father/tutor ??

Thank you so much!
for your help.
Susana
Padres o tutores
Explanation:
I'd translate it that way, because as you said "parents= padres (mother and/or father".
Tutor, doesn't mean is one, it could be one or two; in Latin America most likely would be two, than one tutor.

Sin el contexto no se puede dar una opción muy segura

Explanation:
pero tal vez podría ser:

"padre o madre / tutor"

Como "parent" no está en plural, es de suponer que se trata de alguno de los dos, indistintamente.

saludos.
