"El Armory Show que ahora se presenta fue organizado en 1993 por algunos galeros del barrio neoyorquino de Chelsea y, con la participación de 30 galerías, asumió el título de Gramercy Park Hotel Art Fair por el hotel en el que se ubicó. A pesar del sentido emergente de la idea, en 1999 optó por las normas convencionales y se instaló en el emblemático 69th Armory Regiment. Este recinto albergó del 17 de febrero al 15 de marzo de 1913 a la famosa Exhibición Internacional de Arte Moderno, conocida como Armory Show, y considerada la introductora de las vanguardias europeas en Estados Unidos.
