If a person doesn't choose a gas supplier for next year, they will automatically rollover to the current gas supplier.

Explanation:
automatically could also be "by default" and I know that in certain cases "by default" can be translated as "por omision"

I am not sure if it would apply to this context but I do know that when it is used in the computer filed for example, a "default" search engiene is one that is used normally unless another option is specifically entered to be used as the main search engiene.

Yo lo entiendo así, si no designan a otro proveedor, se les renovará automáticamente (el contrato) con el provedor actual.

'Rollover' se usa como 'renovación' más bien en contexto financiero (http://www.cbfx.com/Lang/ES/dealing_handbook_data.htm ) pero en tu oración creo que va justo.

Explanation:
Aunque no es la forma en que se usa "rollover" en términos financieros, yo creo que ese es el sentido acá. Igual que cuando tu no designas a un nuevo proveedor de servicios telefónicos, se te asigna automáticamente el que ya tenías. Ojalá te ayude.

Creo que aquí el sentido no es que ellos vaya a escoger u optar por el que ya tenías, sino más bien, que si no eligen otro, se les asigna el que ya tienen.
