Como ya he dicho, las lineas se inmovilizarían si tuvieran vida propia. Además una brida lo que hace es sujetar, la inmovilidad es su consecuencia en todo caso. La otra respuesta no me parece mal, pero creo que esta esta mejor.

I believe that hobble is used to mean hitch / or connect
