English term or phrase: MIRC bodies

I've got very little context, since I'm translating the index of a physics magazine, but the articles themselves aren't available yet. The following is all I've got:

If we can only infer them in our own Solar System, how are we going to detect them elsewhere?

Por el contexto se podría referir a la composición de algunos tipos de planetas menores: metallic/rocky/carbonaceous/icy bodies (lo puedes encontrar con los términos ordenados de forma diversa).

Si es para un índice, desarrollar la sigla seguramente quedaría demasiado largo. En este caso, lo dejaría tal cual (dependerá de si luego ya se explica en el texto). En astronomía este tipo de siglas se acostumbran a dejar igual, como por ejemplo TNO (objeto transneptuniano), KBO (objeto del cinturón de Kuiper), NEO (objeto cercano a la Tierra), etc.
