I believe the use of the word draw, though it probably means to pull the bow across the strings, may be a light allusion to the drawing of a bow to shoot an arrow. Draw could, however, simply mean to lift the bows and place them in readiness to start playing.

se me olvidó comentar que el uso del posesivo es mucho más frecuente en inglés, por eso en castellano lo he sustituido sólo por el artículo.

Creo que se trata de ese movimiento en que los violinistas preparan sus arcos levantándolos hacia atrás, se detienen todos al mismo tiempo y esperan a que el director les dé la señal de dar inicio a la pieza musical. No es necesariamente creo yo que saquen el arco de su funda sino de colocar el arco en su posición previa a la ejecución musical.
