English term or phrase: wafting strain of a violin

strains pl (tune): the strains of a flute could be heard in the distance se oía una flauta a lo lejos; we danced to the strains of ‘The Blue Danube’ bailamos al son or al compás de ‘El Danubio Azul’; a melancholy strain (in sing) (poet) un son melancólico (liter)
Oxford Superlex Dict.
waft: transitive senses : to cause to move or go lightly by or as if by the impulse of wind or waves
