agree  Taña Dalglish: I tend to agree with you. Personally, I prefer gala/ hipódromo and even in the context of 18th C England, galas - i.e. dinner/dance would have been applicable, especially Newmarket which parallels Arscot in pomp and pageantry! Saludos.
