... o algo por el estilo... this is no doubt a pun. I think you have to define the character clearly and give him a voice, so that his puns can somehow come through in Spanish. It's hard do to this without the whole dimension of the voice...

Vivo del aire...soy piloto de globos aerostáticos.


Explanation:
Si el personaje habla en broma pero su profesión es realmente esta, añadir lo de "vivo del aire" quizás mantendría el tono jocoso.

Es una opción que se aparta de lo literal, pero quizás pudiera servirte.
