Estoy traduciendo un guión de una serie norteamericana. No me queda muy clara esta frase:

"My father gave me this scabbard. It was the only thing he ever gave me-- except get the sword, myself. I wouldn't
part with this for anything."

Mi padre me dio esta vaina. Fue lo único que alguna vez me dio, (esta es la parte que tengo dudas). No la dejaría por nada.

Luego de leer el link proporcionado por el usuario cgwor ese fragmento de diálogo adquiere más sentido. Uno de los personajes está colectando dinero para huérfanos a partir de la venta de donativos que se pudieran hacer. De esa manera la vaina de la espada es señalada como una posible donación:

1st Sister: "We're collecting goods for our orphans-- things we
can sell
in
our shop in
town. If you have anything-- "

2nd Sister: "Now, that would fetch a pretty dinar."

J: [Laughs] "Yes, I'm sure it would, but-- I wouldn't give this
up just
for anybody. Still,
for the, uh-- Sisters of Gaea."

G: "She means your scabbard."

J: "Oh, right. Uh-- no, no-- oh, no-- I couldn't. My father
gave me
this.
It was the only
thing he ever gave me-- except get the sword, myself. I wouldn't
part with
this for
anything."
Entonces el fragmento que tú publicas adquiere todo su sentido, el personaje no donaría esa vaina porque es no sólo fue dada por su padre sino porque fue lo único que el le dio.
