English to Spanish translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Printing & Publishing
English term or phrase: media
This term appears in a list of services and developments that will be presented in a printing exhibition. Among the terms on the list appear "home textiles, sublimation and transfer printing, pad printing machinery and inks, etc" and then "media and substrates". For more than I look around I cannot find the term in Spanish. I have found this link http://www.screenweb.com/products/media-substrates where it is explained what it is but still not sure how to say that in Spanish.

I would be very glad if someone could help me with this, please.

Many thanks in advance

medios / materiales
Explanation:
Puedes usar cualquiera de los dos. Yo suelo preferir traducirlo como "material(es)". De hecho, es sinónimo de "sustratos": el material sobre el que se imprime.

medios / insumos

Explanation:
Sounds like this part of the exhibition will be about the papers and films used to print on.

I've checked and found "insumos" and "consumibles", but these terms refer to the films AND the inks too.
Consumibles in Spain:
http://www.todoimpresion.com/cms/index.php?option=com_conten...
Insumos in Argentina:
http://www.lcdag.com.ar/?seccion=categoria&categoria=3&subca...

Then, the substrates are translated as "sustratos", that refers especially to the films and papers.
3M sells them:
http://products3.3m.com/catalog/mx/es003/graphicarts/-/node_...

Here, once you enter the site you'll see they offer "sustratos especiales"
http://www.formasdigital.com/

So, I would translate is as medios y sustratos to refer only to the films and papers, not inks.

See you!
