En el aula de E/LE, este viaje de exploración, identificación, interpretación y descubrimiento intercultural se convierte en un proceso interactivo e intersubjetivo de comunicación --entre el autor y el texto, el texto y el lector (el aprendiz), el lector y los otros (el profesor y los demás compañeros lectores)-- que culmina con la adquisición de la competencia lingüística y el acercamiento cultural por y para la enseñanza/aprendizaje de textos escogidos de la literatura española e hispanoamericana, o sea, tanto como pretexto para trabajar exponentes lingüísticos como contenido en sí misma.

Dicho de otra forma, los textos son la génesis de la comunicación auténtica que se produce en el aula a raíz de las distintas interpretaciones a que se prestan (por naturaleza) y a que dan lugar (según el bagaje cognitivo-afectivo que aporte cada lector)--el discurso paralelo de identidad o contraste con el discurso que el mismo texto origina en los demás compañeros en el aula (Montesa y Garrido: 1994)
