The effect produced upon the mind of this wicked lad was evidently most powerful. Whether it were lasting or not, the gentleman had no opportunity to ascertain. Al decir a "conocimientos religiosos" da la idea que transmite el pasivo con "was communicated", pues parece que se quiere decir que el niño tan sólo era un recipiente que estaba dispuesto a recibir todo lo que se le diera.
