agree  Gonzalo Garcia: El diccionario confirma ese uso, como bien dices, aunque "a primera lectura" me había parecido que suponía un aumento del grado. "Muchas cosas juntas de cierta especie", dice el DUE.

hola ana,

me parece que la construcción que se usaría en castellano sería esta. aunque literalmente la expresión signifique "un gran número" y se utiliza en inglés "person", no me parece lo natural en nuestro idioma.

Quizá para armar definitivamente la frase, en vista del contexto, podría empezar la frase con un "Como", aunque el "as" equivalente esté ausente en la construcción inglesa.

"Como más de uno podría decirte(le), que en otros tiempos el no se consideraba..."
