English term or phrase: Defacing

How would you guys translate "defacing"? The context is a retailer's manual about "Defacing and delabeling procedures" for merchandise resale, meaning the procedures in which the merchandise original labels and logos are eliminated or crossed out. "Desfiguración"sounds too... violent to me!

Any suggestions?

It seems like this could be an option. Especially if the labels and logos are crossed out with a marker or a pen.

I think if they are eliminated it could be "remover" or "quitar".
