La respuesta anterior que menciona "principio" en lugar de ingrediente es perfectamente válida y de uso común. Yo prefiero ingrediente porque me parece más moderna. Ingrediente da la idea de una sustancia, en cambio principio nos remonta 3 o 4 siglos atrás en que los "químicos" de la época buscaban, por ejemplo el flogisto, el principio de la inflamabilidad. No obstante, repito, la frase principio activo es perfectamente correcta y muy usual. Mucha suerte. GFS.
