English term or phrase: stratus, cumulus and cirrus clouds
: Clouds are classified by their height in the sky, or altitude. Low-lying, flat, gray clouds are called stratus. Stratus clouds usually bring rain, drizzle or snow. Cumulus clouds are higher in the sky, around 15,000 feet. Cumulus clouds are separate, dome-shaped puffs. They mean fair weather. The highest clouds in the sky are cirrus clouds. They are wispy, thin clouds in the icy cold air around 30,000 feet.
