pachyrhizi. This highly aggressive and destructive disease includes
approximately 50 to 60 specific races, which makes control by
resistance alone very difficult. Because of its aggressive nature,
estimated yield losses from Asian rust could reach 50 percent or
more in the Southeast, due to that area’s warm, humid conditions.
Potential yield losses in the Midwest are somewhat less.
