English term or phrase: three-dimensional human beings
"I knew so many of these people. I had met them and found them ***three-dimensional human beings***. Some were articulate, some were very ordinary in their speech patterns, some were quite erudite, some were plain interesting people—but they were all reduced by the requirements of a racist society."

I am not sure that the author is referring to the fact that as human beings we are 3 dimensional, consisting of body, mind, and spirit. In this context, I would appreciate your ideas on how can these definitions be translated. Thank you!

Explanation:
I think it sounds more natural in Spanish to refer to "all of their dimensions" rather than the "three of them". In any case, I think the contrast is between "flat" (2D) and "round" (3D) human beings, as the tendency of a racist society would be to level them up to stereotypes (2D).
