El gol se mete por la escuadra. Me parece que esa es la forma usual de llamarlo.

Quizás sería mejor decir: "cuando entra en parábola por la escuadra".
Yo creo que NetTra tiene razón, nunca se habla de balones arqueándose; normalmente cuando el balón describe una trayectoria curva porque se chuta con el exterior o el interior del pie, en lugar del empeine, se dice en parábola o con efecto.

Explanation:
Casi nunca he escuchado que digan lo que "se arquea" en español... pero definitivamente, al menos aquí en México, se le conoce como el "ángulo superior [derecho/izquierdo]" de la portería.
