English term or phrase: as brackets go up on office walls
The 2010 campaign begins the first two days of the men’s tournaments, Thursday and Friday, March 18-19, 2010 (as brackets go up on office walls nationwide) and runs through the final women’s championship game on Tuesday, April 6

This text explains a campaign to raise funds for a favorite charity during tournament season, but I have no idea what the brackets are or how to translate that phrase. Your help would be appreciated.

Explanation:
I'm pretty sure this is what they are saying by putting up brackets- making room for another trophy!
