English term or phrase: a dive (in this context)
Target: Peninsular Spanish.

Example: "Real Madrid TV fanned the flames by accusing Busquets of taking a dive".

The Glossary has "zambullida" (but I have the impression this is more an AmL usage). I've seen "se tiró" but would prefer a noun.

zambullirse/sumergirse/tirarse/lanzarse

Explanation:
Hi

Zambullirse is Spanish for Spain, not LatAm (in Mex is "clavado" and diver, "clavadista"). However, in this context you could maybe think about lanzarse. And it's very figurative, maybe "lanzarse a hacer teatro" o "zambullirse en la representación teatral".

Best, María.
