Tech/Engineering / oils systems, bearings
English term or phrase: grinding
"When particles of 2-5 micron in size penetrate and are trapped in the dynamic tolerance of a mechanical part (e.g., valves and roller bearings), the particles are small enough to enter the tolerance, but too big to pass without getting trapped, resulting in grinding of surfaces and the creation of micro-cracks and wounds, which are then prone to erosion"
