"diamond-drawn" evidentemente se refiere al acabado y no a la forma:
"the wire can be supplied as bright diamond drawn, bright grease drawn, or as drawn (satin finished). For .033 and larger, the wire can be supplied in the as-drawn (satin finish) condition or in a mechanically produced (polished) bright surface condition."

Quedaría por aclarar que relación tiene el estirado del alambre con el diamante. ¿Se realiza el estirado de aquél con ayuda de uno de éstos? ¿Se pone aquél, al ser estirado, duro como éste?

Ahora, lo que no aparece por ninguna parte es el \"steel\" del \"acero\" de algunas propuestas.

Tomando en cuenta la \"helpful info\" de AlexPotts, y puesto que lo de la lisura de la superficie del alambre aparece por todas partes, se me ocurre una tercera hipótesis.

agree  Antonio Costa: Por lo que he conocido en una fábrica de cables eléctricos y telefónicos, el alambre de cobre pasa por varias hileras de diamante y se va estirando hasta reducirse a diámetros menores que un hilo de pelo, según su aplicación.

Clicked too fast! Quería agregar que me parece que "diamond" se refiere al material de las hileras por las cuales pasan el alambre, y no a una marca.
