The INTKM01 module sends its internal time information to the INSEM01 module via the I/O expander bus and through the time-sync link via the NTST01 TU. The INTKM01 module can be connected to an external receiver using the IRIG-B time code link. The INTKM01 module uses the time information sent by the receiver to initialize and correct its time information. INTKM01 Installation in Section 3 describes the configuration needed for the Truetime Satellite Receiver model SRS.

Es fundamental poder leer el código electrónico de tiempo pues esto permite el funcionamiento basado en este parámetro de referencia. Los códigos de tiempo se programan, se incorporan en los soportes informáticos y bandas y se utilizan en el cine, en el video y en todos los sistemas audiovisuales. Nuestros propios ordenadores dejarían de funcionar normalmente sin esos códigos y sin esa lectura continua de este parámetro.

Aparentemente serviría para mantener sincronizados los "relojes" internos del satélite y los de los equipos que se comunican con él. El reloj interno (más que reloj es marcador de ritmo, aunque también se cuenten los pulsos para lo que sí es reloj) es en efecto imprescindible en el funcionamiento interno y, si no recuerdo mal, es necesario para algunas formas de transmisión de datos (sincrónicas)
