Ahora, soft y hard, no lo he logrado descubrir. Te paso lo que encontré; te recomiendo en especial el primer artículo: In the first case, the locomotive "fired" what is referred to as a hard crowbar; he also noted when this happened, the effect was worse than that of a ground relay tripping (this is very true; it is because you are producing much higher levels of voltage in the AC control systems than in the DC portions. The sudden removal of this level of power produces this effect). Here is the background: This feature is part of what is named the Inverter Protection System (IPS); it is in the SIBAS16 inverter control system, and it is there to protect the system's components from potentially damaging electrical imbalances. The "firing" of a hard crowbar creates an authentic dead short across the DC Link switchgear; this action causes the main generator to stop producing output and, in addition, immediately discharges the DC Link voltages by way of placing on-line numerous devices called bleeder resistors, which reduce the voltage levels to little or no degrees http://www.flash.net/~cymartin/crossxroads/74airbrk.htm The OVP scheme also provides a soft crowbar function (bang-bang control followed by blow of the fuse) which helps to tackle severe load transients but does not invert out-put voltage when activated-a common problem for OVP schemes with a latch www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/FA/FAN5230.pdf This `soft-crowbar' condition will be maintained until the output voltage returns to the regulation window and then normal operation will continue. This `soft-crowbar' and monitoring of the output, prevents the output voltage from ringing negative as the inductor current flows in the `reverse' direction through the lower MOSFET and output capacitors www.intersil.com/data/fn/fn4/fn4903/FN4903.pdf CROWBAR PROTECTION on units 15 amps and larger. http://www.tripplite.com/products/family/verters/230/230inde...
