|English term or phrase: spur|
|Technical manual describing parts of a detection system: "All the detectors continue in operation, because the loop has been now split into two spurs". It also talks about "branches and spurs". I found translations that often use branches and spurs almost interchangeably...very confusing!|

In Argentina, when circuitry is split the term usually used is “ramal”. It is the same word applied to splitting of railroad tracks:
“la vía principal deriva en dos ramales, un ramal principal y otro secundario”
