Spanish native speaker + reference. batería con placa de vidrio absorbente Explanation: AGM or SLA Battery Absorbent Glass Matt or Sealed Lead Acid battery. The battery may be used and stored in any position without fear of acid leakage. All acid is contained within the fiberglass-floss material that separates the lead plates. The fiberglass material also acts as shock absorber preventing the individual lead plates from striking each other and causing premature failure. The battery design is based on a standard lead-acid battery (automotive battery) but the 100% absorption and fiberglass floss extend life and performance. Additional items like ultra-pure lead and calcium-antimony grids separates the SLA battery from traditional automotive batteries. http://www.jumpstarter.com/common.htm#AGM or SLA Battery I couldn't find any pages in Spanish, but given the explanation I believe you'll be safe using above translation |

Baterías selladas, de electrolito absorbido Explanation: This is the technical/commercial name we use in Argentina. It's also correct to say "baterías selladas con placas de fibra de vidrio absorbentes" (but it's no so usual). Actually, the electrolyte (acid) is "absorbed" in the fiber-glass mats. There are two main types of sealed lead-acid batteries: one is the above-mentioned, and the other is the "gel type" (gelled electrolyte). HTH. |
